Online Marketing, Your Money & Google Analytics

If you aren't using some kind of website analytics you are spending too much money on marketing your website.
Today there is no good reason not to use a comprehensive and effective analytics program. Google will give you one for free. You can even set it to automatically email you every night, week or month with a full report on your website visitors.
Analytics programs will tell you the following about your website;
- How many people visit every day?
- How long did they stay? What country, state or province did they come from?
- What pages did they view and which are the most popular?
- What pages do visitors land on first besides your home page?
- How did they find you?
- Did they come from a search engine? Another site?
- Did they come from an advertising campaign you are running?
- If you're selling things on your site what did it cost you in advertising per sale?
Without this information you may as well be advertising the old fashioned way. Throw your money at the campaign and try and figure out if it worked.For years business owners have been complaining to their advertising sales reps "How can I know if this is working? I don't mind spending the money if only know it would work." Amen to that brother.
That is why you must measure and adjust. Rinse and repeat. Every cycle you learn a little more about what works and you make you campaigns more and more efficient.
